Monger Named Molten/NEC Co-Player of the Week

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University volleyball team has one of its senior student-athletes recognized for their performance in the past week.  Senior Lindsey Monger (Rising Sun, Md. / Rising Sun) was announced as the Molten/NEC Co-Player of the Week for her performance in the four matches over the past week.

In the first of four matches for the Colonials, Monger contributed 20 kills and 22 digs as RMU took down Big Twelve foe West Virginia in five sets.  As Robert Morris traveled to Texas for the SFA Tournament, Monger continued her streak of at least ten kills in each match as she tallied 12 against Southern Mississippi and Stephen F. Austin.  In the match against Northwestern State, Monger registered 14 kills while hitting .419 in the match.  Along with her 58 kills on the week, Monger also tallied 36 digs, six assists, two service aces, and four block assists.

Monger sits ten kills away from 1,000 on her career and she would be the ninth Colonial in program history to reach that milestone.  She will also become the second student-athlete in program history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career as she already has surpassed the 1,000 dig mark.

Monger and her Colonial teammates return to the Charles L. Sewall Center to start play in the Northeast Conference as they host Bryant on Saturday.  First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
