The Robert Morris University matched the Pitt Panthers in nearly every statistical
category save one - goals - in a 2-0 loss at Ambrose Urbanic Field on the Oakland
campus Wednesday night. The Panthers have now won five straight games and stand
6-02- overall while the Colonials slip to 2-5-1.
Robert Morris matched Pitt in shots (12-12), shots on goal
(5-5) and corner kicks (5-5). Each team was even whistled for being offside
twice. But two late goals by Panther Nick Wysong made the difference.
Wysong tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 71st minute as his shot from the right wing found the far left corner of the net.
Cory Werth was credited with the assist. Wysong struck again in the 86th minute as he took a pass from Matt Venanzi and tallied his second marker from
12 yards out.
Junior Daniel Calabretta (Brampton, Ontario / St. Marguerite
d'Youville) had four shots for RMU. Senior keeper Toba Bolaji (Vaughan, Ontario
/ Maple) was credited with three saves. Pitt netminder Lee Johnston stopped
five shots as the Panthers collected a third shutout for the year.
Robert Morris plays the second game of its four-game road
trip at Buffalo. The Sept. 23 contest is slated for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off.
