Colonials Can't Overcome Two-Goal Deficit at LIU Brooklyn

Brooklyn, N.Y. / LIU Field – LIU Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-0 lead and the Robert Morris University men's soccer team was unable to overcame the deficit in a 2-1 loss in Northeast Conference action Friday evening. The Colonials slip to 6-5-2 overall and 1-2-0 in league games with the loss. The Blackbirds move to 4-7-1 and 1-1 in the NEC.
 
Trailing 2-0, junior Devon Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Georges) scored his first goal of the season in the 61st minute. Sophomore Bruce Cullen (Pickering, Ontario / Pine Ridge) and senior Luca Campos (Monaca, Pa. / Center) earned the assists.
 
Robert Morris would continue to push for the equalizer of the final 30 minutes but would not again solve Logan Keys who finished with four saves.
 
Nathan Stewart's 44th minute goal gave the Blackbirds the lead and Brice Merwin's 56th minute score proved to be the gamewinner.
 
Freshman Joseph Kuta (Mississauga, Ontario / St. Joan of Arc) had two saves for RMU.
 
The Colonials finish their Brooklyn swing against St. Francis Brooklyn in a 1:00 p.m. game at Brooklyn Bridge Park Sunday, Oct. 20.
