Morell Earns Medalist Honors At RMU Colonial Classic

Sophomore ties tournament record with a second round 74.

Hopewell Township, Pa. / The Club at Shadow Lakes – Robert Morris Universitysophomore Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) fired a second round 74 to earn medalist honors at the 2013 RMU Colonial Classic at The Club at Shadow Lakes in Hopewell Township, Pa. The Colonials finished second in their home event with three players earning top-10 finishes.

Morell won the event with consistency, leading the field with 21 pars. Her second round 74 is the lowest score in tournament history, the fourth time that number has been reached and the first time since the event moved to The Club at Shadow Lakes. She finished with a 157 two-day total, beating Ann Colligan and Patricia Klein from Saint Francis by one stroke.
 
Senior Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) came home in 161 strokes to tie for fifth, her first top-10 showing of the season and the fourth of her career. She posted a 79 in round one and an 82 in round two. Sophomore Amanda Reach (Moscow, Pa. / North Pocono) tied for eighth, one stroke behind Bozich with a 162. She fired an 80 Tuesday after an opening salvo of 82.
 
Freshman Chloe Wong (Vancouver, British Columbia / Prince of Wales) finished 11th overall (84-81=165) while junior Sarah Weber (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) was 27th with a 185 (94-91).
 
Playing as individuals, junior Tori Zachman (Hampstead, N.H. / North Carroll) tied for 16th (89-83=172) and sophomore Gianna Pro (Harrison City, Pa. / Penn Trafford) was 18th (88-85=173).
 
Saint Francis (Pa.) was the team champion, carding rounds of 322 and 318 for a 640. RMU was second at 645 followed by Youngstown State (654), Niagara (681) and Point Park (736).
