Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's tennis team continued its 2013 spring season with its annual trip to the Sunshine State, dropping four matches in Orlando, Fla.
The Colonials opened the swing with a 5-2 loss to Valparaiso Saturday before dropping 7-0 decisions to both Bethune-Cookman Sunday and South Carolina State Monday. RMU closed out its trip with a 5-2 loss to Creighton Tuesday.
Robert Morris now owns an overall record of 2-12 so far this season in dual matches.
Against the Crusaders, the Colonials picked up a pair of wins in singles action, as junior Angus Thomson (Kedron, Australia) posted a 5-7, 7-6 and 12-10 victory over Chris Baum at the No. 2 flight.
Senior Andre Coiro (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) also won against Valpo, earning a 6-0, 7-6 win over Lucas Waak at the No. 5 single flight.
Coiro also picked up a singles victory against the Blue Jays to finish 2-2 on the swing, as he posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over Brandon Lee at the No. 4 singles flight. Coiro has played four matches at the No. 4 flight so far on the 2012-13 campaign, posting a 2-2 mark.
Freshman Matheus Neves Ferreira (Barueri, Brazil) picked up the other singles win for RMU against Creighton, earning a 6-4, 3-6 and 7-6 win over Ryan Norman at the No. 1 flight.
Robert Morris returns home to the North Athletic Complex for a five-game homestand, beginning Friday, March 15, with a Noon match against St. Francis Brooklyn.
