Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team has added its newest member for the 2013 season. Head coach Olivia Netzler has announced the signing of Briana Stine to a national letter of intent.
Briana Stine (Columbia, Md. / Atholton) led her high school to its first ever Maryland Class 3A State Championship as she scored three of the six goals in the tournament for Atholton. In her senior season, Stine led her squad in assists with thirteen while also scoring fifteen goals.
Stine received an Honorable Mention from The Washington Post when the paper handed out its post-season accolades. In addition to that honor, Stine was named to the All-County Second Team by The Baltimore Sun. She was selected to play in the Maryland All-Star Senior game while also being chosen as an alternate for the 2012 National Futures Tournament.
While at Atholton, Stine has also a member of the tennis team that won a county championship. Off of the field, Stine was a member of the National Science Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society as well as the treasure of the Key Club. Along with her time at Atholton, Stine spent five years playing club field hockey with Capitol Pegasus.
Stine will join Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) and Kylie Luke (Ligonier, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) as the newest members for the 2013 season. Returning two-time All-NEC Second Team honorees Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) and Michelle Lewthwaite (Macarthur, Australia / Westfield Sports), the Colonials will look to improve on a 5-13 season from 2012.
