Moon Township, Pa. / North Athletic Complex — Sophomore Madison Kozlowski's (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) first career goal gave the Robert Morris University women's soccer team a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Niagara University Sunday afternoon at North Athletic Complex. With the victory, RMU improves to 2-0 on the year while the Purple Eagles slip to 0-2.

Kozlowski couldn't have picked a better time to score her first career goal. The sophomore found herself on the end of a long ball by senior Leah Prentice (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard), heading it into the left side netting on a pass that came from just over the midfield line. The goal in the 87th minute ensured the Colonials of starting with back-to-back victories for the fourth time in team history.

The Purple Eagles took the lead in the 12th minute when Hayley Besaw's shot from 10 yards was deflected off the crossbar by RMU junior Becky Schoenecker (Cheswick, Pa. / Fox Chapel) and caromed to the middle of the box. Haillie Price was the first to the rebound, knocking it just over the line before Scheonecker could recover.

The Colonials nearly found the equalizer 14 minutes later when senior Darla Sebbens (Irwin, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) was robbed on a point black chance as her redirection attempt was parried aside by Niagara keeper Claire Feiertag.

Robert Morris evened the game in the 58th minute when a shot by the Colonials was touched by the hand of a Purple Eagles defender in the box. Prentice took the ensuing penalty kick and drove the ball into the left corner to knot the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute.

Niagara nearly retook the lead in the 83rd minute as a direct kick from 22 yards out was slowed by the RMU wall and rolled into the center of the penalty box. The second chance shot by Danielle Kennedy looked to be going into the right side netting before Prentice was able to clear it away.

Robert Morris outshot Niagara, 15-12, in the game and had seven corner kicks to just one for the visitors. Schoenecker and sophomore Chelsea de Jager (Grimsby, Ontario / Governor Simcoe) once again split goaltending duties. Schoenecker had two saves in the first half while de Jager earned the win in the final 45 minutes. Feiertage had three saves for Niagara.

The Colonials return to the pitch next Sunday, Sept. 1, when the host Bucknell in a 1:00 p.m. contest at North Athletic Complex.
