Fourth Recruit Commits to Robert Morris

Head Coach Olivia Netzler announces the signing of a fourth recruit for the 2013 season.

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team has added a fourth member to the incoming class for the upcoming 2013 season.  Head Coach Olivia Netzler has announced the signing of Simone Bindels to a national letter of intent.

Simone Bindels (Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Netherlands / Open Schoolgemeenschap Bijlmer) is the second international recruit to join the Colonials for the 2013 season.  Bindels first picked up the sport of field hockey when she was six years old.  She continued her playing career at Hockey Ignatius College in Amstelveen.  After several years in Amstelveen, Bindels joined a new field hockey club in Amsterdam when she became a part of Hurley in 2011.  Playing at the highest level in the country, Bindels was immediately named the team captain.

"Simone can play defense and midfield as she spends the majority of her time in the center of the field," said coach Netzler.  "Her flexibility and experience from playing at the highest junior level in her country will translate very well as she joins us here at Robert Morris.  We are very excited about having her becoming a Colonial and joining the team in the fall."

Bindels will join Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) as the international recruits to join RMU for the fall season.  Two other recruits, Kylie Luke (Ligonier, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) and Briana Stine (Columbia, Md. / Atholton), will also suit up for the Colonials for the first time in 2013 as the incoming group looks to improve on a 5-13 record in 2012.
