Second Half Goal Sinks Colonials At Canisius

Miro Cabrilo and Luca Campos get their first goals of the season.

Buffalo, N.Y. / Demske Sports Complex –After a busy first half, the Canisius Golden Griffins scored the only goal of the second half to grave a 3-2 victory from the Robert Morris University men's soccer team Sunday afternoon. Seniors Miro Cabrilo (Hamilton, Ontario / Glendale Secondary) and Luca Campos (Monaca, Pa. / Center) each got their first goal of the season as the Colonials slip to 1-2-2 on the year. Canisius improves to 2-2-1.

The game started well for the Colonials as senior Sam Colosimo (McKees Rocks, Pa. / Montour) fed the ball to Cabrilo, who then weaved through a couple defenders before depositing a shot into the net from 20 yards out in the 8th minute.

The lead lasted just over four minutes before Nicolo Baudo took advantage of an RMU turnover deep in its own territory. Jon Cary then scored off a long throw-in from Andrew Incho to give the host squad a 2-1 lead in the 22nd minute.

A bit of build-up and couple quick one-two passes through the midfield led to Campos' goal in the 43rd minute. Sophomore Neco Brett (Kingston, Jamaica / Excelsior) and junior Devon Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Georges) set up Campos 12-yards out and the senior didn't miss, sending the game into half tied.

Incho, who assisted on the Griffs second goal, scored the gamewinner on a cross by Baudo. The goal came on a volley from point blank range in the 69th minute.

The Colonials travel to Penn State for a 7:00 p.m. game Tuesday, Sept. 17.
