Pro Leads RMU to Fourth At Niagara Invitational

Freshman's second round 78 moves her into fifth overall.

Niagara Falls, N.Y. / Niagara Falls C.C. — The Robert Morris University women's golf team finished fourth at the Niagara Purple Eagles Invitational led by the performance of freshman Gianna Pro (Harrison City, Pa. / Penn Trafford) who finished fifth overall. The Colonials shot a 332 as a team Tuesday for a 666 total on the 5,856-yard par 72 layout at Niagara Falls Country Club.

Detroit won the event with a 630 followed by Youngstown State (636), Saint Francis (661), RMU (666) and host Niagara (689). Ann Colligan of Saint Francis totaled 153 strokes over 36 holes to earn medalist honors.

Pro shot a 78 in the second round, tying the second-lowest round of her collegiate career, to take fifth with a 159. Her fifth place finish ties her best finish of the season. The rookie carded an 81 in the first round.

Senior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) carded an 83 in both rounds of the event, scoring a 166 over 36 holes of play. Her total put her in a tie for 12th. Freshman Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) used 90 strokes to finish up her second round and finish in 17th with a 169 total. She scored a team-best 79 in the first round.

Junior Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) found 10 strokes between the first and second round to move into a tie for 18th place. After an opening round score of 81, Bozich fired an 81 in round two. Sophomore Sarah Weber (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) finished in a tie for 27th with a 181 total on scores of 91 and 90.

Playing as individuals, senior Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) finished in a tie for 18th (91-81-172) and sophomore Tori Zachman (Hampstead, Md. / North Carroll) was 24th (89-87-176).
