Moon Township, Pa. –
Erica Robb, a senior outside hitter on the
Robert Morris University volleyball team, was named Molten/Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Robb is the third different Colonial to earn Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, joining classmates
Melissa Bograd (Nov. 3, 2014) and
Becky Jay (Oct. 27, 2014). She also becomes the fifth different RMU student-athlete to earn a weekly award from the NEC in 2014, as
Arden Fisher (Sept. 2, 2014) and
Kristin Thompson (Oct. 27, 2014) previously have won Molten/NEC Player of the Week.
The senior outside hitter's first career weekly honor comes on the heels of a 17-dig performance against Saint Francis U. this past Saturday. In the three set victory over the Red Flash, Robb averaged 5.67 digs per set, which upped her season average to 3.04. Her per set average in conference matches is at 3.83, which is good for 10th.
Robb currently sits in ninth all-time for career digs with 1,159. On Oct. 4, 2014 at Central Connecticut State, she became the ninth player to reach the 1,000 dig plateau.
Robert Morris goes into this weekend with a chance at its first NEC regular-season title since 2008. The Colonials travel to St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, Nov. 15 and play LIU Brooklyn the following day on Nov. 16. Both matches are set for 1:00 p.m. starts.
