Robert Morris University men's lacrosse student-athletes were recognized by the Northeast Conference (NEC) in its weekly awards this afternoon following the Colonials' 11-7 victory over Detroit this past weekend.
Senior
Sean Meagher (Chesterfield, Mo. / St. Louis University) was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week after one of the best performances of his career. Meagher caused six of the team's 11 turnovers, falling just one short of the career-high he set last season in the NEC Championship Game. He also collected four groundballs in the contest. The reigning NEC Defensive Player of the Year currently ranks third in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.50).
Freshman
JonPatrik Kealey (Ottawa, Ontario / South Carleton) earned NEC Rookie of the Week after posting his second-straight multi-goal game. A week after tallying a hat trick in his collegiate debut, Kealey notched two goals and an assist against Detroit. The rookie leads the team in goals (5) and points (6).
Robert Morris travels to the east side of the state this weekend as the Colonials take on No. 15 Drexel. Saturday's contest is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start from Vidas Field.
