Yoviene Earns Second NEC Honor this Season

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – April 7, 2014 – After the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team earned victories in its first two Northeast Conference (NEC) contests, junior midfielder Kristin Yoviene (Easton, Md. / Saints Peter and Paul) was named a Co-Player of the Week by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Yoviene paced Robert Morris (8-3, 2-0 NEC) with seven points in the two contests against Sacred Heart and LIU-Brooklyn.  Yoviene found the back of the net four times while producing three assists to go along with four shots on goal, five ground balls, one draw control, and one caused turnover as the Colonials earned two victories over the weekend.

In Friday's contest against Sacred Heart, Yoviene opened the scoring in the game three minutes into the first half and added two more goals in the opening frame for her fifth hat trick this season.  Yoviene added a fourth goal in the second stanza for her third four-goal game in 2014.  Three of Yoviene's four goals came off of free-position attempts, a number that matches her career-high established earlier this season.  Yoviene finished the contest scoring on all four of her shots on goal while picking up one ground ball and one draw control.

On Sunday against LIU-Brooklyn, Yoviene recorded the second three-assist game of her career, both of which have come this season.  Held without a shot on goal, Yoviene assisted on three goals in the victory while picking up four ground balls (a season high) and causing a turnover.

In 11 games this season, Yoviene leads the Colonials in goals (22), assists (12), points (34), free-position goals (eight), and shots on goal (33).  Yoviene's 12 assists rank her third in the NEC and in the top-100 nationally while her 22 goals are the seventh-most in the conference and her 34 points are the fourth-most in the NEC and ranks the junior in the top-100 in the NCAA.

Yoviene's current pace of 2.00 goals per game, 1.09 assists per game, and 3.09 points per game would rank the junior in the top-ten of all three single-season categories in the RMU record book.

In her three seasons at Robert Morris, Yoviene has played in 43 games and is six points shy of becoming the eighth Colonial to record 100 points in their career.  With 94 points, Yoviene has the ninth-highest point total of any student-athlete in the ten-year program history at Robert Morris.

Yoviene's 69 career goals are the ninth-most in program history and her 25 career assists are the eighth-most in RMU history.  Yoviene is also in the RMU career record book for shots on goal (eighth – 133) and free-position goals (fourth – 18).

Yoviene and her Robert Morris teammates will have their first road conference contests this weekend and the two-game trip begins with Bryant on Friday afternoon in a matchup of the last two unbeaten programs in conference play.
