Colonials Conclude Season at Dad Vail Regatta

Varsity 4, Novice 4 each advance to semifinals

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's rowing team concluded its 2014 season Saturday at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Colonials raced a pair of boats at Dad Vail, with the Varsity 4 and the Novice 4 each seeing action.

The Varsity 4 posted a time of 7:22.969 in heat six to finish second, trailing only Nova Southeastern, which won the heat thanks to a time of 7:18.045. Trailing RMU in the heat were Bucknell (7:24.791), Fordham (7:29.480) and Duquesne (7:43.667).

In the semifinals, RMU's Varsity 4 finished fifth with a time of 8:01.988 in heat three. The top two teams, Oklahoma City (7:42.019) and Temple (7:51.001), advanced to the finals. Northwestern (7:52.361) claimed third, while Clemson (7:53.890) finished fourth. Trailing Robert Morris was Lafayette, which finished sixth in the heat at 8:10.335.

Serving as the coxswain of RMU's Varsity 4 was junior Laura Mooradian (St. Catharines, Ontario / Denis Morris), and also featured in the boat was junior Kristin Fay (Philadelphia, Pa. / Philadelphia), sophomore Caitlin Ryan (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford Sutherland), senior Megan Coleman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Northgate) and sophomore Kelley Bittner (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton).

RMU's Novice 4 claimed second in heat nine, finishing with a time of 7:45.523 to trail only Tampa (7:43.614). Finishing behind the Colonials were Massachusetts Institute of Technology (8:06.434) and Fairfield (8:16.694).

Moving onto the semifinals, RMU's Novice 4 took part in the first heat, claiming fifth thanks to a time of 8:02.712. Grand Valley (7:44.171) won the heat and was followed by Marist (7:47.120), George Mason (7:51.149) and Villanova (7:51.871), while Purdue (8:28.996) trailed the Colonials.

The boat featured freshman Savanah Buhite (Oakdale, Pa. / West Allegheny) as the coxswain and freshmen Katelyn Goodman (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona), Shannon Casey (Eagle River, Alaska / Frontier Charter), Hannah Miller (Valencia, Pa. / Mars Area) and Tina Sahr (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Catholic).
