Moon Township, Pa. – Both teams generated plenty of opportunities, but neither could find the back of the net as the Robert Morris University and St. Bonaventure University women's soccer teams played to a scoreless draw at North Athletic Complex Sunday afternoon. The Colonials snap a four-game losing streak with the result, moving to 1-4-1 overall.  The Bonnies are now 2-3-1.

RMU senior goalkeeper Becky Schoenecker had five saves for RMU, including two during overtime to record her first clean sheet of the year. Christina Sarokon made seven saves for the Bonnies as RMU outshot the visitors, 18-15.

St. Bonaventure controlled play for the first 15 minutes of the contest, generating six shots early on but were unable to get anything from inside the Colonials box. The Colonials were able to compose themselves, then created several quality chances before halftime. Antonia Grese had two chances in the 29th minute, but had a shot blocked and the rebound was then saved by Sarokon. Freshman Gabrielle Corrente had a chance from 10 yards out later in the half, but was also turned away by Sarokon.

The chances kept coming for both teams in the second half. Freshman Greer Monahan hit the right post with a first-touch shot in the 54th minute. Then the Bonnies' Reilly Dougherty was able to knock a header on net only to see an RMU defender clear it from danger.

The best Colonial chance of the contest came in the 63rd minute when a shot by Kozlowski was handled by a St. Bonaventure defender in the box. Kristie Hamilton took the penalty kick, but Sarokon reacted decisively high and to her left to parry the shot over the bar and keep a clean sheet.

In the first overtime, Lauren Hill and Gabriella Balseca were both turned away in the 94th minute before the table turned in the Colonials favor. Kozlowski had two nearly identical breakaway opportunities in the 96th minute. The first time, she sent a shot skidding wide of the left post before Sarokon made a save on a breakaway just moments later.

St. Bonaventure earned the best chance in the second overtime when a failed clear by RMU gave Hill a breakaway.  As she closed on goal, Schoenecker charged off her line, cutting the angle and making a kick save with her right leg.

The Colonials play their next three games on the road beginning with a Noon contest at Northern Kentucky next Sunday, Sept. 14.
