Rodney Pryor of the
Robert Morris University men's basketball team was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week Monday. It marks the third weekly honor of the season for Pryor.
In helping lead the Colonials to a 2-0 week and the No. 2 seed in the 2015 NEC Tournament, Pryor averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting 53.3 percent (16-for-30) from the field, including 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from beyond the arc, and 85.7 percent (6-for-7) at the free-throw line.
Pryor opened the week by scoring a game-high 25 points in a 91-59 victory over Wagner (2/26/15) at the Charles L. Sewall Center, hitting seven of his 10 shots from the field, including 5-of-6 from deep, while going 6-for-7 at the chalk. He also added five rebounds, a career-high six assists and a pair of steals.
Two days later in a 71-70 overtime victory over in-state rival Saint Francis U. (2/28/15) at the Sewall Center, Pryor paced Robert Morris with 22 points, scoring 16 points in the second half and overtime as the Colonials erased a 12-point deficit to garner the win. In the extra frame, Pryor ignited an 11-0 run with a three-pointer with 2:26 to play that helped RMU earn the victory.
Over the final five games of the 2014-15 regular season, Pryor averaged 23.4 points and 6.4 caroms per contest while shooting 57.3 percent (43-for-75) from the field, including 55.9 percent (19-for-34) from beyond the arc. He closed out the regular season by eclipsing the 20-point plateau in each of his final four games, and Robert Morris is 7-1 (.875) this season when Pryor scores at least 20 points in a contest.
Entering the 2015 NEC Tournament, Pryor leads the Colonials and ranks sixth in the NEC in scoring at 15.3 points per game while placing second in the circuit in three-point field goal percentage (.430), fourth in three-point field goals made per game (2.27) and eighth in field goal percentage (.484).
