Robert Morris University volleyball student-athlete Taylor Lord was recently named to PrepVolleyball.com's High School All-American and Academic All-American Teams.
Lord, who will joining the Colonials in the 2015-16 academic year, was one of 150 high school athletes named to the PrepVolleyball.com All-America team. She also earned Academic All-America First Team honors from the website.
The outside hitter from Musselman (W. Va.) High School was named Gatorade West Virginia Volleyball Player of the Year in December for the second consecutive season, as she helped lead the Applemen a 49-6-1 overall record and second straight Class AAA state championship. Lord recorded 758 kills, 341 digs, 479 service receptions, 57 aces, and 43 blocks as a senior, and in the Class AAA title match, she collected 25 kills, 14 digs, two blocks, and a service ace in a four set victory.
In the classroom, Lord has maintained a 4.6 weighted GPA and ranks No. 1 in her graduating class. She serves on her school's student council, is the president of Musselman's National Honor Society, and is a member of Rotary International's Interact club. Lord has volunteered her time for numerous organizations and causes, including a women's shelter supply drive, the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, a Volley for the Cure fundraising event, and a charitable Volley to End Dementia Night.
Robert Morris advanced to its first Northeast Conference (NEC) title game since 2010 this past November and extended the conference's longest active streak of NEC Tournament appearances to 16. The Colonials also posted their best conference winning percentage (.857) under head coach
Dale Starr in the 2014 season.
