Santiago Mejia was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week. He wins the award one week after
Matt Gurska did and is the third Colonial to earn league recognition in 2014-15.
Mejia led the Colonials to their third victory on the season and second in as many weeks at the Saint Francis University Red Flash Invitational. Robert Morris shattered its 54-hole tournament scoring record with an 873, six strokes better than the previous mark with had stod since 2009.
Mejia
topped a quartet of Colonials in the event's top-10. The senior from Colombia saved his best for last, carding an even par 70 Tuesday to finish second, two strokes behind medalist Barret McCarthy of Humber College. Mejia shot 72 in each of the first two rounds for a 214 (+4) total, the third lowest 54-hole number in team history.
The Colonials will take off the next two weeks prior to the Northeast Conference Championships May 1-3 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
