Jessica Karwacki Named Second-Team ECAC All-Star

All-time NCAA draw control leader recognized for outstanding, record-breaking junior season

Moon Township, Pa. - 2015 was another headline-worthy season for Robert Morris University midfielder Jessica Karwacki, as she became the Division I all-time leader in draw controls while the women's lacrosse team made its second consecutive appearance in the Northeast Conference tournament.

About a month after making the all-NEC first team for the second time, Karwacki was honored again, this time by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), which named her a second-team Division-I all-star this week.

Karwacki, a native of Sparks, Maryland, was one of 29 players recognized by the ECAC, which encompasses 88 NCAA D-I schools in the northeast quadrant of the country. As a junior this past spring, Karwacki piled up 169 draw controls (10.6 per game) to lead the nation for the second straight season.

Karwacki was an all-around contributor in her third year on campus, chipping in 10 goals and 12 total points. On the defensive side, the former Hereford (Md.) High School star picked up 16 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers for the Colonials, who finished at 10-7 overall.

In three seasons, the 5-foot-9 Karwacki has a remarkable 537 draw controls, 68 more than the old record set by Northwestern's Alyssa Leonard in 2014. Karwacki established a national single-game record with 24 draw controls at Howard on Feb. 28, one of three times this season she recorded 20 or more.

After having made the NEC tournament in three of the past five seasons, Karwacki and the Colonials will begin their 12th season of D-I lacrosse next spring.
