Kirsten Welsh of the
Robert Morris University women's hockey team were named College Hockey America Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the league Monday afternoon.
This is a first-time Player of the Week honor and second career CHA weekly nod for Garvey, while Welsh adds her second Rookie of the Week selection to her resume.
Garvey was a key factor in Robert Morris' (14-9-5, 6-4-4) sweep of Lindenwood this weekend, as she posted four points in two games. She recorded a career-high three points in the Colonials' 5-2 victory Friday, including the game-winning goal. She added another goal, her third of the series and seventh of the season, in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win.
Welsh recorded her first points since Jan. 3 in the Colonials' pair of wins over the Lions. Her goal in Friday's 5-2 affair evened the score at two after RMU trailed early, 2-0. Her second point of the weekend came on an assist in Robert Morris' 3-2 overtime victory. Welsh was +4 on the weekend and blocked three shots.
