Neco Brett signed a Major League Soccer (MLS) contract with the Portland Timbers as announced by the defending MLS champions Monday.

Brett was selected by the Timbers in the second round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and was the 40th pick overall. He spent training camp with the MLS squad in Arizona and has played in the team's last three preseason contests on a trial basis.

The native of Kingston, Jamaica, finished third at Robert Morris with 100 career points while his 41 goals in four seasons are second. Brett ranks in the top-15 of all nine RMU career offensive categories and 20 times overall in the season records.

The first three-time Northeast Conference Player of the Year, Brett is also the first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America pick, earning third team honors in 2015. He was also the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Offensive Player of the Year, a three-time NSCAA All-Region selection and a three-time All-NEC First Team pick.

He led the NEC in scoring three times, leading the country in points in 2013 and goals in 2014. He finished seventh nationally with 31 points on 13 goals and five assists in 2015.

Robert Morris returned to the NEC Tournament in 2015 after posting a 4-2-1 (13 pts) record in NEC games placing them third in the regular season standings. The Colonials finished the year 10-8-1 overall, the fifth time in team history RMU reached double-digit victories.
