Ryan Smith of the
Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team were named Northeast Conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the league Monday afternoon.
Schmidt's award marks his first career NEC weekly honor. Smith's nod is his second career NEC rookie honor and third conference award overall.
Schmidt led the Colonials with a career-high eight points in Robert Morris' 17-6 win over Wagner Saturday, to move RMU to 4-0 in NEC action. The Doylestown,Pa., native scored a career-best six goals and dished out two assists. His eight points rank tied for second all-time in RMU single-game history, and his six goals rank third. Schmidt has posted points in 10 of 11 games this season, and paces the Colonials in goals (20) and points (27).
Smith earned his second Rookie of the Week honor of the season after posting a career-high six points on one goal and a career-high five assists against the Seahawks. His five assists tie for first all-time in a single game for the Colonials.
RMU takes a break from conference play to travel to No. 14/18 University of Virginia for a Tuesday night tilt on April 11 at 7 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va., at Klockner Stadium.
