Moon Township, Pa. – Jane Schleicher, a senior forward on the Robert Morris University women's soccer team, has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league this Monday afternoon.
Schleicher, a local product out of Montour High School, concluded her collegiate career by registering a brace in Robert Morris' 2-1 win over LIU Brooklyn on Senior Day. In the 27th minute, the senior earned a foul inside the 18 and calmly slotted home the subsequent penalty kick. After the Blackbirds equalized in the 78th minute, Schleicher corralled a late corner kick on the edge of the box and buried it inside the right post for the game winner.
2018 marked a dream season for the transfer from West Virginia Wesleyan. Schleicher finished the campaign with 13 goals – the second most in single-season program history – and 26 points. Her goals per game average of 0.72 was a school record, while her point total is tied for third among single-season performances.
In her three-year career donning the Colonial colors, Schleicher owns the third slot in both career goals (24) and points (52). An All-NEC Second Team selection last year, she ranks second all-time in goals per contest (0.48) and points per contest (1.04).
Schleicher is RMU's first NEC Player of the Week since Oct. 23, 2017, when teammate Kristina Kelley gained the accolades following a two-win weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson and Mount St. Mary's.
Robert Morris finished the season with a 6-12-0 overall record and 4-4-0 mark in NEC play – its fourth consecutive season of .500 play or better in league games.
