Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team saw seniors Owen Pearce and Zac Sherman, as well as freshman Lorenzo Guagneli, earn Northeast Conference (NEC) postseason accolades, as the league announced its winners at the pre-tournament banquet on Thursday night.

Pearce and Sherman both were named to the All-NEC Second Team, while Guagneli brought home Rookie Team plaudits. The three honorees are the most for Robert Morris since 2015, when it saw five players recognized by the conference for seven different awards.

A native of Markham, Ontario, Pearce enjoyed the most productive offensive season of his career to earn Second Team honors. He started in the midfield in all 17 games, tallying four goals and four assists for 12 points. All those marks were career highs for the Bill Crothers Secondary product, with his point total tying for eighth in the NEC. Pearce posted a pair of one-goal, one-assist games at Longwood and Sacred Heart, and ended his collegiate career by netting the game-winning goal in a 1-0 triumph against Saint Francis U.

Sherman picks up his second postseason plaudit from the NEC after being named to the Rookie Team in 2015. Stepping up in place of the graduated and 2017 First Team selection Bayley Winkel at forward, the Mechanicsburg, Pa. native led the Colonials with five goals, four assists, and 14 points in 16 contests. Sherman finished in the top 10 of the NEC in all scoring categories, slotting as high as a tie for fourth in total points. Like Pearce, he registered one-goal, one-assist performances at Longwood and Sacred Heart, while adding a brace against Northern Kentucky on Sept. 2.

Guagneli is just the third Colonial to be named to the Rookie Team, joining the aforementioned Sherman and Lucas Puntillo in 2015. The native of Cesenatico, Italy was one of five RMU players to start all 17 games this season and saw 1,490 minutes in the midfield, which ranked third on the team. He was recently recognized as NEC Rookie of the Week after assisting on Pearce's game-winning tally against Saint Francis U, a game that saw him go the full distance – the 10th consecutive contest that he had done that.

Robert Morris finished the season with a 6-10-1 overall record and 4-4-0 mark in the NEC.
