Pittsburgh, Pa. – Neco Brett, a former forward (2012-15) on the Robert Morris University men's soccer team, signed a contract with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC of the United Soccer League (USL) on Tuesday, as announced by the team in a release.
Brett makes his return to the Steel City after playing in the Portland Timbers' organization the last two seasons. The 40th overall selection in the 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft, the Kingston, Jamaica native tallied seven goals with Timbers 2 of the USL in 2016 and made his MLS Debut later that season in May against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Brett currently leads the Riverhounds in scoring this preseason with six points (2g, 2a).

"We're happy to have Neco this year, he's worked exceptionally hard and he's having success because of his willingness to do whatever necessary," said head coach Bob Lilley in the team's release. "He's a proven goal-scorer and will certainly be pushing guys for playing time because of his determination and work-rate."

At Robert Morris, Brett emerged as one of the best players the Northeast Conference (NEC) has ever seen. He is the only player in conference history to win three NEC Player of the Year awards and made the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division I All-America Team as a senior. Brett also garnered three consecutive NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team selections after finishing his career with 41 goals and 100 points, marks that respectively rank second and third in program history. As a junior in 2014, he led all of NCAA Division I in goals (15) and tied for first in points (33).
Brett joins former teammate Devon "Speedy" Williams (2011-14) in the USL. Williams is entering his fourth season in the league and second with reigning USL champion Louisville City FC.
