PITTSBURGH, Pa -
Robert Morris University alumni
Jaycee Gebhard and
Natalie Marcuzzi officially joined the pro ranks Monday when it was announced that both had signed professional contracts for the upcoming 2020-21 season.Â
Gebhard was selected in the first round, sixth overall by Toronto in the NWHL Draft several weeks ago, however she elected to instead sign with Brynas IF of the SDHL, the highest tier of professional hockey in Sweden.Â
The first draft pick in Toronto franchise history, Gebhard recently completed one of the most brilliant careers ever for a Colonial, leading College Hockey America in scoring and becoming the all-time leading scorer in RMU program history en-route to a First-Team All-CHA award in her senior year.
Marcuzzi was also selected by Toronto in the NWHL entry draft and signed with the still-to-be-named club Monday afternoon. The forward appeared in all 36 games for RMU in her senior campaign, posting seven goals and fifteen points. A native of Thornhill, Ontario, Marcuzzi recorded 20 goals and 40 points in 139 career games for the Colonials and was named to the CHA All-Academic Team in her junior year.
The duo helped lead the Colonials to three straight regular-season titles from 2017-19 as well as four consecutive trips to the CHA Championship game, winning it all in 2017.
