Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Colonials are going dancing!
The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team are the 2021 Champions of the Mid American Conference, and will continue their season next week, Friday, May 14 when they face #5 Notre Dame in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in South Bend, Indiana.
The Colonials captured their first ever conference championship earlier this month with an undefeated 10-0 season in MAC play, and will participate in their first ever NCAA Tournament this week after securing an automatic bid.
RMU and the Irish will square off Friday at 1:00 p.m. in South Bend with the game available to watch on ESPNU. A victory over the Irish would see Robert Morris advance to the second round of the tournament on May 16th, also in South Bend.
The first three rounds will be played at the traditional campus sites of the host institutions, with the semi-finals and finals taking place at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Maryland.
The championship provides for a field of 29 teams to compete in a single-elimination tournament. Sixteen conference champions qualify automatically. The top eight teams in the 29-team bracket for the championship are seeded, with the top three teams receiving first-round byes.
