LAST TIME OUT
The Colonials dropped a pair of contests last week against St. Bonaventure and Valparaiso University on Thursday and Sunday afternoon.
Despite the 3-0 loss in game one, RMU managed to strike first against ValPo, however they could not overcome a Beacons go-ahead goal in the 74' as they dropped game two, 2-1.
TEAM LEADERS
Sophomore forward Haleigh Finale currently leads the Colonials with two goals, while junior mid Kaoru Hayashi shares the lead with Finale for overall scoring with four points each.
The duo are also tied for the team lead in shots on target with seven apiece, while Hayashi's two assists are currently tops on the team.
Keepers Courtney Worstell and Isabella Bohlen have spilt duty in goal through for games in 2021, with each keeper making two starts.
STATS TO KNOW
From a shots perspective, RMU has been neck-and-neck with their opponents through three weeks with 52 total shots for and 54 against.
And while the season is still young, the Colonials are inching towards the tops of the Horizon League in shots per game (13.0), which currently has them sitting fifth overall.
There are currently eight Colonials who have started all four games so far for RMU in 2021: Finale, Hayashi, Emily Rocco, Gabriella Lecuona, Chelsea Kingston, Kristi Kania, Allie Ball and Morgan Guelas.
SCOUTING THE FLASH
Thursday's matchup will see RMU face another former NEC opponent in non-conference play as they prepare to take on SFU for the first time since the 2019 season.
While RMU did earn a 3-0 win over the Flash in an exhibition matchup last year, Thursday will be the first real meeting between the two squads since a 2-1 loss in Loretto on October 18, 2019.
RMU is 7-17-2 all-time vs. SFU in a rivalry that dates back to 1993, with RMU having won just once in Loretto since 2006, a 3-2 win during the 2015 campaign.
SFU sits at 1-2 overall and is fresh off of a 3-2 win over Akron on August 26. Sophomore mid Paige Theobald currently leads them offensively with three points.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
Canisius is still hunting for their first win of the season after a pair of losses to Cleveland State and Cornell as well as two draws against St. Bonaventure and St. Franck's Brooklyn.
At 1-6 a year ago, the Golden Griffins welcome back nineteen members of the 2021 spring squad, including thirteen upperclassmen. They are led by first-year head coach Ryan Louis who served in an interim capacity last season.
NEXT UP
The Colonials head out for another two-game road swing next week when they face Delaware State Friday and Hampton Sunday afternoon.
