LAST TIME OUT
The Colonials pulled off a weekend sweep of Delaware State and Hampton last week and are riding a three-game win streak for the first time since October of 2017 after 2-1 and 4-2 wins to close out non-conference play.
A goal and assist from Gabriella Lecuona helped lift the Colonials over DSU, while multi-point efforts from Kayla Veloso-Lima (2G) and Haleigh Finale (3A) Sunday against Hampton helped RMU claim a win over the Pirates.
RMU also saw two more career milestones over the road swing as freshmen Kennedy Lazenby and Kassidy Fischer each scored their first career goals in the wins.
TEAM LEADERS
After her offensive outburst over the weekend, Haleigh Finale leads all Colonials in overall scoring with ten points (2G, 6A) and is tied for the team lead in goals with Lecuona, Veloso-Lima and freshman Emily Rocco.
Finale's six assists are also a team-best, making her and Kaoru Hayashi (3) the only Colonials with multiple helpers so far this season.
In goal, Courtney Worstell and Isabella Bohlen have each earned four starts apiece, with Bohlen the owner of a 3-1 record including a clean sheet against Canisius earlier this season.
STATS TO KNOW
The Colonials continue to pepper opposing goalkeepers at a high rate so far this season, currently ranking second in the Horizon League in total shots at 123 and second in shots per game at 15.38, behind only Milwaukee. As a squad, RMU has out shot their opponents in seven of eight games in 2021.
Individually, a number of Colonials rank amongst the conference elite in shot production, with Finale sitting atop the conference at 3.88 shots per game while Lecuona and Hayashi are tied for second at 2.86.
Finale's ten points are also tied for third in the league scoring race.
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
Green Bay sits at 3-1 on the year and is also currently riding a three-game win streak following victories against St. Thomas, Chicago State and Northern Illinois earlier this season.
Despite this being the second season for RMU in the Horizon League, Thursday will be their first ever matchup against the Phoenix for the Colonials, who are trying to start conference play with a win for the first time since 2019.
They are led by reigning HL Offensive Player of the Week McKayla Kertscher who is tied for third in the conference in goals with four following a hat trick against Northern Illinois.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
The reigning Horizon League Tournament champions, Milwaukee is already off to a hot start this fall at 5-1 overall.
The Panthers are coming off of a 2-1 overtime loss to the Wisconsin Badgers last Thursday, their first loss and the first match this season in which they conceded a goal.
Their +22 goal differential is tops in the league and includes 6-0 wins over Northern and Western Illinois as well an 8-0 victory against Eastern Kentucky.
Picked to win it all in 2021, MKE boasts five starters who earned Horizon League postseason honors a year ago including senior forward and leading scorer Mackenzie Schill.
NEXT UP
The Colonials host Purdue Fort Wayne at the NAC Thursday the 23rd at 2:00 PM before closing out the weekend with a trip to Detroit Mercy on Sunday.
