LAST TIME OUT
RMU is still searching for its first Horizon League win of the season following their conference opener last week against Green Bay and Milwaukee.
While the Colonials managed to earn a point with a 1-1 draw in Green Bay, the reigning HL champion Panthers walked away from the NAC with a 2-0 victory on Sunday to put RMU at 0-1-1 to start the season.
TEAM LEADERS
Haleigh Finale scored again against the Phoenix to bring her team-leading point total to 12 points (3G, 6A). Finale now leads RMU is all three categories, with Gabriella Lecuona, Kayla Veloso-Lima and freshman Emily Rocco all in a three-way tie for second in goal scoring with two each.
Finale's six assists are also a team-best, making her and Kaoru Hayashi (3) the only Colonials with multiple helpers so far this season.
In goal, Courtney Worstell and Isabella Bohlen have each earned five starts apiece, with Bohlen the owner of a 3-1 record including a clean sheet against Canisius earlier this season.
STATS TO KNOW
The Colonials continue to pepper opposing goalkeepers at a high rate so far this season, currently ranking second in the Horizon League in total shots at 142 and second in shots per game at 14.20, behind only Milwaukee. As a squad, RMU has out shot their opponents in nine of eleven games in 2021.
Finale sits near the top of the league in nearly every major offensive category, ranking first in shots per-game (3.60), T-4th in goals (three), second in assists (six) and third in total points (12).
Hayashi also ranks fifth in shots per-game at 2.44.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Colonials earned their first ever win as members of the Horizon League a year ago against PFW, taking them down 4-2 at SouthPointe Fieldhouse last March, spurred on in part by a two-assist performance from Sheridan Reid.
PFW currently sits at 2-3-4 on the year, including a 1-1 mark in HL play after a 2-0 win against UIC and a 1-0 loss to IUPUI on Sunday. Picked to finish 10th in the Preseason Coach's Poll, PFW is led by leading scorer and junior forward Kelsey Gallagher, currently pacing her side with five total points.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
Milwaukee sits at just 1-8 on the season and is coming off of a 2-1 overtime loss against Cleveland State last Sunday, earning their only win so far against Saginaw Valley State back in August.
Preseason picked to finish 11th overall, DM has gotten five of their seven total goals so far this year from two players: freshman forward Erica Leinweber and senior mid Julie Ann Piechocki.
NEXT UP
The Colonials are in action just once next week, hosting Northern Kentucky at the NAC on Saturday, October 2 at 2:00 PM.
