Mike Zolnierczyk of the RMU men's soccer team has been named the President of the 2022-23 Horizon League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the second consecutive year.
The announcement came Monday from the Horizon League, which announced each of the student-athletes who will participate on the SAAC for the 2022-23 academic year. Each of the league's member institutions is represented by two student-athletes. Joining Zolnierczyk for the Colonials is sophomore
Morgan Guelas of the RMU women's soccer program.
Horizon League SAAC participated in an in-person meeting in June and will continue to meet over video conferences throughout the academic year. Additionally, SAAC members from five institutions will serve as Cabinet members in the Horizon League governance structure, while two student-athletes will also represent the student-athlete voice and hold one vote on the League Council alongside all 11 Athletic Directors, one Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and one Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).
Zolnierczyk joins Lainey Stephenson of Wright State on the Horizon League Council, with Nadia Pace of Youngstown State serving as 2022-23 Horizon League SAAC Vice President.
The NCAA Division I National SAAC is comprised of one member from each of the 32 Division I conferences. Its mission is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete well-being and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC members comment and react to legislative proposals, issues of interest and actions taken by their Division.
In addition to serving as Horizon League SAAC President, Zolnierczyk will serve as RMU SAAC President for the 2022-23 academic year, while Guelas is Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Co-Chair on the RMU SAAC Board, joining junior
Kelvin Ramirez of the men's soccer team.

Lauren Chappell (track & field) as Student-Athlete Well-Being Chair and senior
