SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Thursday will be the 16

Mount St. Mary's has seen action once this season, by opening the year with a 1-1 draw against Western Carolina, before their second contest was canceled due to weather.
The Mountaineers will be under new leadership this year as Melissa Sherwood became the eighth head coach in Mount history, after serving as the associate head coach at Northwestern State. Sherwood will feature a young squad as she brings in 15 newcomers, comprised of 10 freshman and five transfers.
Mount St. Mary's was selected to finish ninth in the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEWOMEN
For the first time in program history, Robert Morris and the University of Massachusetts will square off on Sunday afternoon.
UMass was selected to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll after finishing 11-6-4 overall with a 5-3-2 mark in conference play a season ago. The 11 wins marks the third time in four years that the Minutewomen have won 10 or more games, while also reaching the A-10 Championship game in 2021.
Massachusetts currently sits 1-1 this season, winning their season opener over Albany, 1-0 before dropping a 2-1 decision at Fairfield on Sunday. Graduate student Lauren Bonavita and senior Ella Curry pace the Minutewomen each with a goal this season, while junior goalkeeper Megan Olszewski has tallied nine saves.
QUOTABLES
"We are excited about the upcoming weekend. The Mount is an opponent we are familiar with as a former conference foe," head coach
Chris Shaw said. "UMass is a team we have not played previously. Both opponents will provide some stiff competition and we are looking to improve on our previous outings as we continue to gel as a unit and get our young team more experience against outside competition."
NEXT UP
The Colonials hit the road for the first-time next Thursday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard at 7 p.m.
