BOSTON, Mass. – RMU men's hockey players
Walter Zacher,
Croix Kochendorfer, and
Trent Wilson were recognized with Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) weekly honors for their outstanding performances in the opening weekend of the season.
Zacher was named the AHA
Forward of the Week after an impressive start to the season. He scored a goal in RMU's season opener at Miami (Ohio) and followed that performance with his first career hat trick in the Colonials' home opener, leading RMU to a 4-1 win and a series sweep. The Buffalo, N.Y., native also recorded the game-winning goal. This is Zacher's second career weekly honor, having been named Rookie of the Week once last season.
Kochendorfer earned
Goaltender of the Week honors after starting in net for both games against Miami. The freshman from St. Paul, Minn., posted two wins with an impressive 1.00 goals-against average (GAA) and a .960 save percentage, making 48 saves across the weekend. He also recorded his first career assist in the home opener.
Wilson, a native of Tsawwassen, B.C., was named the AHA
Rookie of the Week. In his collegiate debut, Wilson scored RMU's first two goals of the season and added an assist for a three-point night against the Redhawks.
