INDIANAPOLIS – RMU men's soccer defender
Fabian Overkamp has been named to the 2025 Valeo #HLMSOC All-Academic Team, the Horizon League announced Tuesday. Junior goalkeeper
Josh Lane was also recognized, earning Honorable Mention status.
The Horizon League All-Academic honors celebrate student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the field. To qualify, individuals must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20, appear in a minimum of 50 percent of their team's contests, and be in at least their second year at their institution. Any student-athlete receiving 25 percent or more of the vote earns Honorable Mention distinction.
A Computer Science major from Königswinter, Germany, Overkamp owns an impressive 3.97 GPA. This marks his first selection to the All-Academic Team after being named an Honorable Mention a year ago.
On the pitch, Overkamp has been a steady presence for RMU, recording two goals and one assist this season. He was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week once and also earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week. Over his career, he's logged more than 3,900 minutes across 48 matches (44 starts), producing three goals and one assist defensively while anchoring the Colonials' back line.
A team captain, Overkamp has been instrumental to the program's rise. Last season, he was selected to the All-League Second Team, helped lead RMU to the 2024 Horizon League Championship, and was named to the All-Tournament Team. He also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition for his academic excellence.
Lane, a Psychology major, owns a 3.52 GPA and has continued to provide stability in net. This season, he's recorded four victories, four shutouts, and 51 saves, posting a .750 save percentage. He, too, was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week once this season.
In his career, Lane has amassed 14 wins, 11 shutouts, and 117 saves. His breakout 2024 campaign featured a sweep of major honors, including United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team, All-League Second Team, All-Tournament Team, and a TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week nod.
Under third-year head coach
Jonathan Potter, the Colonials close out the regular season on Tuesday, November 4, traveling to Wright State for a 2:00 PM kickoff.
