MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Women's Soccer Head Coach Michelle Rick officially announced today the team captains for the upcoming 2025 campaign. The Colonials will be led by a trio: senior defender Jillian Marvin, senior forward Paloma Swankler, and senior midfielder Taylor Day.

"We're proud to name Jillian, Paloma, and Taylor as our captains for the 2025 season," said Head Coach Michelle Rick. "They represent what we want RMU Women's Soccer to be about in their character, competitive drive and all-in mentality. Jill and Paloma bring valuable experience as returning captains, and Taylor has stepped up in a big way as a leader on and off the field over the last year. This group is committed to setting the tone every day and holding us to the high standards we've built. We're excited to chase a Horizon League title with them leading the way."

Marvin will wear the captain's band for a second consecutive season, a testament to her consistent leadership and pivotal role on the Colonials' back line. This past season, Marvin demonstrated remarkable durability and impact, playing every minute of every game (1,712). Offensively, she tallied three assists and scored the crucial game-winning goal in overtime against IU Indy in the Horizon League Quarterfinal match. In her career, she has played in 55 games, starting in 44 contests, accumulating a total of 4,236 minutes on the pitch. She has produced four assists along with two game-winning goals.

"I'm so pumped to lead this team as a captain for another year," said Marvin. "I see this as a big responsibility to hold myself and my teammates to a high standard. We've got something really special this season and I'm ready to leave it all out there one last time. Our group is ready to fall in love with the process and that is going to produce great things on and off the pitch."

Swankler will also serve as a captain for the second straight year, continuing her role as a driving force for RMU's offense. In 2024, Swankler posted six goals and five assists, statistics which ranked her among the top five in the conference and earned her Horizon League All-League Second Team honors. In her career, she has played in 56 games, starting in 24 matches. She has produced a total of 10 goals and eight assists, including four game-winners.

"I'm incredibly proud and grateful to be named a captain of the RMU women's soccer team for a second year," stated Swankler. "This season is especially meaningful to me because this group of players is passionate and hungry for a Horizon League Championship. I look forward to upholding the elite standard of this program while leaving behind a legacy for future players."

Day will take on the captaincy role for the first time this season. She was a key contributor to RMU's push for the playoffs in 2024, demonstrating her clutch performance by scoring in each of the final three regular season games against conference opponents. On the year, she finished with four goals and one assist. In her career, Day has played in 48 games, making 32 starts. She has scored eight goals and four assists, including one game-winner.

"I'm very excited for this year's group and the promising potential each player has showcased in preseason so far," said Day. "I'm honored that I was chosen to be a captain, and I hope that I can exceed my teammates' expectations in terms of leadership and standards. The chemistry and competitive drive at practice is awesome to be a part of and I can't wait for it to translate in the game. We are all focused on the same goal which is ultimately to be Horizon League Champions."

The Colonials will open their 2025 campaign at home against Navy on Thursday, August 14 at 4:00 PM.
