RMU Women's Soccer Continues Homestand Against USI

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team is set to continue its season-opening homestand, hosting the University of Southern Indiana on Thursday, August 21 at 4:00 PM at the North Athletic Complex. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with commentary by Spencer Witt.

RMU LATELY
RMU (0-1) is looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Navy in their season opener. The match saw several Colonials make their collegiate debuts, with Emma Cameron, Bailey Campbell, Ivy Chaskelson, and Sydney Chontos all earning their first career starts. Additionally, freshmen Francesca Villa, Alayna Williams, Eily Duffy, Akeelah Mirza, and Isabella Fusco all saw their first minutes on the pitch. Senior captain Taylor Day led the offensive charge for RMU with two shots on goal.

ALL-TIME VS. USI
This will be the second-ever meeting between these two programs. The first was last season in Evansville, Ind., where the Colonials and Screaming Eagles battled to a 2-2 draw. It was a high-offensive match, with RMU recording 15 shots to USI's 19. RMU's two goals came from Paloma Swankler and Haleigh Finale, with seniors Taylor Day and Jillian Marvin each recording an assist.

SCOUTING THE SCREAMING EAGLES
USI (0-2) is off to a winless start, having dropped a 6-0 result at Nebraska and a 2-0 loss to Cleveland State. In 2024, the Screaming Eagles finished the campaign with a 5-9-5 overall record and a 4-2-3 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. Their season ended in the Quarterfinal match against Morehead State with a 2-1 loss. USI does return their top goal scorer from last season, Emerson Grafton, who netted three goals and six assists. They also bring back their starting goalkeeper, Anna Markland, who won four games and had two shutouts in 2024.

COMMON OPPONENTS
RMU and USI both have Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, and Purdue Fort Wayne scheduled on their 2025 campaign.

UP NEXT
RMU will wrap up their three-game homestand next week, hosting Canisius on Thursday, August 28. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM.
