MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU kicker/punter
Jayson Jenkins has been named NEC Special Teams Co-Player of the Week, sponsored by Atlantic Tomorrow's Office, the league announced today.
In his first career game as a punter, Jenkins averaged 41.2 yards per kick and placed five balls inside the 20 at West Virginia. He also added a 36-yard field goal.
This is Jenkins' first NEC weekly honor. He shares the award with LIU's Will Lynch.
Additionally,
Patrick McDonnell was named a NEC Prime Performer. The linebacker recorded a game and career-high 12 tackles with a fumble recovery at WVU and tied SFU's Geno Calgaro for the conference's week-high tackles.
RMU (0-1) remains on the road for a matchup against Youngstown State (1-0) on Saturday, September 6. The Penguins, who received 20 votes in this week's Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, were 24-15 winners over Mercyhurst in their season opener.
