Sophomore forward Jessica Gazzola of the hockey squad is one of two females to garner Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolades for Jan. 6, 2016. In a sweep of Providence at the RMU Island Sports Center last weekend to kick off the new year, Gazzola registered two goals and a pair of assists. She finished with a helper in a 6-1 win Saturday in the first game of the series, then exploded for two goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory Sunday that helped complete the sweep. Entering the series, Gazzola had compiled a goal and three assists in her first 20 games of the year before producing an impressive offensive production against the Friars. Gazzola is a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
