Freshman forward Koby Thomas earns the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week nod for Jan. 10, 2018. In a pair of home victories last week, Thomas averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 48 percent (12-for-25) from the field to help lift the Colonials to a perfect 4-0 mark in Northeast Conference action. In an 80-79 overtime win over St. Francis Brooklyn (1/4/17) at the A.J. Palumbo Center, Thomas netted his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Two days later in an 88-79 win over LIU Brooklyn (1/6/18) at PPG Paints Arena, Thomas scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half. He shot 7-for-13 from the field against the Blackbirds, and his three-point play with 57 seconds left gave the Colonials a seven-point advantage. For his efforts, Thomas was selected as the NEC Rookie of the Week (1/8/18). In 17 games, each as a member of the starting lineup, Thomas is averaging 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
