Freshman Estelle Katende of the track & field earns the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for May 9, 2018. At the 2018 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Katende was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer in the throws. Katende, a native of Valbonne, France, claimed the individual championship and All-NEC First Team accolades in both the shot put and the discus. She recorded a toss of 14.58 meters (47’10”) in the shot put to finish first and also posted a throw of 45.83 meters (150’4”) in the discus. Katende’s throw in the discus was over four meters better than second place.
