In earning All-Northeast Conference in a pair of events last week at the 2014 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Landover, Md., senior Yulia Vasilyeva earns the Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Feb. 12, 2014. A native of Volgograd, Russia, Vasilyeva defended her indoor title in the triple jump while placing second in the high jump to help lead the Colonials to third place, their highest finish since 2001. Vasilyeva posted a leap of 11.84 meters in the triple jump, which ranks third in the event in school history. In the high jump, she tied her own school record with a mark of 1.70 meters, helping her take home silver and earn All-NEC Second Team accolades. For her individual title in the triple jump, Vasilyeva is an All-NEC First Team selection in the event.
