Athens, Ohio - The Robert Morris University women's soccer team lost their third straight game on Tuesday afternoon, 1-0, to host Ohio University. The Colonials opened the 2006 season with a promising 3-1 win over Youngstown State, but have not scored a goal since the 78th minute of that game on August 25.
The Bobcats (1-2-0) took the lead and never looked back just 95 seconds into Tuesday's match. Lindsey Price launched the ball to the Colonials (1-3-0) far post on a corner kick. Rachael Goulding was positioned perfectly and finished with a header past RMU junior goaltender Jessica Onufer (Butler, Pa. / Butler) for the game's only marker.
Robert Morris' best chance to tie the match came with about 17 minutes remaining in the first half, when the Colonials possessed an indirect free kick 20 yards in front of the Ohio goal. After a touch pass, a hard shot bounced off the Ohio line and back to senior midfielder Hilary Nellis (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler). Nellis fired it just high and the ball deflected off the crossbar and past the end line.
Onufer finished the game with five saves as the Bobcats registered 12 shots to the Colonials five. Ohio goaltenders Jess Maclean and Dominique Wright combined to make three saves en route to the shutout.
Robert Morris will look to regroup over the next 10 days before they host Niagara University in a 2:00 p.m. kick off Friday, September 15, at North Athletic Complex.
