Moon Township, Pa.?Robert Morris University women's basketball senior guard Sade Logan (Knoxville, Tenn. / South Doyle (Chattanooga State)) was named the Choice Hotels / Northeast Conference Player of the Week, marking the second straight week that a colonials player earned the award following last week's selection of junior forward Monet Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Grand Street Campus (Monroe College)).
Logan, who takes the award for the sixth time in two seasons, averaged 27.0 points and 6.5 rebounds during a pair of NEC wins that moved the surging Colonials into a tie for second place in the conference standings. Connecting at a 73.3 success rate from downtown, the NEC single-season three-point record holder sank 11 threes in two games.
She carried the Colonials down the stretch of a 62-57 road victory at Fairleigh Dickinson by scoring the team's last nine points, six of which helped RMU extend a one-point lead during the game's final 1:28. Finishing with 26 points and eight rebounds against the Knights, Logan eclipsed the 25-point mark for the third straight occasion and fifth on the season. Earlier in the week, Logan poured in 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, which included a 6-of-7 mark from three-point territory, and grabbed five rebounds to help clip the LIU Blackbirds, 57-43.
On the season, Logan is averaging 21.9 points per game this season to lead the Colonials. Last week, she recorded her 1,000th career point, becoming the 10th fastest player in NCAA history to achieve that feat by doing it in just 43 career games. She is the 17th Colonial player to join the 1000-point club.
Robert Morris has won four straight contests to improve to 9-10 on the season and 7-2 in the NEC. The Colonials host North Carolina Central at 7:00 p.m. tonight.
