Moon Township, Pa. - January 25, 2010 - This past weekend the Robert Morris University men's track and field team hosted the Robert Morris Invitational on Friday evening at the Charles L. Sewall center and earned a total of 10 top-three finishes. Seton Hill, IUP, West Liberty College, Geneva, Youngstown State and Carnegie Mellon all competed at the meet.
Junior Dewitt Hudson (Rochester, Pa. / Rochester) opened up the meet with a first-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing in a season-best time of 7.96. In the 500-meter dash Michael Robinson (Reynoldsville, Pa. / Dubois) finished second with a time of 1:08.17 and freshman Ben Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) placed first in the 1000-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:37.39. Teammate Arthur Leathers (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) placed second in the same event with a time of 2:38.79. Junior Charles Gladman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Cardinal Dougherty) closed out RMU's top individual running performances by earning bronze in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.94.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 3:40.65 and the distance medley team finished first with a time of 11:04.82.
Senior Michael Bowman (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothers) represented the Colonials in the throwing events by earning silver in the weight throw with a heave of 16.09 meters.
RMU earned the first and second spot in the pole vault event with Anthony Trunzo (Trafford, Pa. / Penn-Trafford) earning gold with a season-best mark of 4.65 meters and Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) placing second with a height of 4.35 meters.
The Colonials return to action this Friday, January 29 through Saturday, January 30 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete in the Bowling Green Invitational.
