Colonials Earn Seven Gold Finishes at Bowling Green

Bowling Green, Ohio - February 1, 2010 - This past weekend the Robert Morris University men's track and field team competed in the Tom Wright Classic and earned a total of seven first-place finishes. Junior T.J. Green (Stamford, Conn. / Milford Academy) led the Colonials with two gold medals.

Green earned his first top finish in the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 7.04. He earned his second first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.62.

Anthony Thornton (Torrington, Conn. / Torrington) placed first in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:27.52, while teammate Tyler Morton (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook) earned the third spot, clocking in at 1:28.70. Freshman Michael Robinson (Reynoldsville, Pa. / Dubois) placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.29, while rookie Ben Ingle earned a top finish in the one-mile run, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:29.66. Sophomore Arthur Leathers (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) also performed well in the distance events and took first in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:40.14. The men's distance medley team earned a season-best finish with a time of 10:51.24.

Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) represented the Colonials in the pole vault and earned a first-place finish with a season-best leap of 4.40 meters. Lance Washington (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) took second in both the long jump and the triple jump, with marks of 5.75 meters and 13.10 meters, respectively. Brendan Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) placed well in the shot put with a second-place finish and a mark of 15.05 meters.

The Colonials return to action this Friday, February 5 to compete in the Marietta Open Alumni Meet.
