Ingle Leads RMU at Doug Raymond Invitational

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's indoor track & field team continued its 2010-11 campaign Saturday afternoon by taking part in the Doug Raymond Invitational, hosted by Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio.

Sophomore Ben Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) led RMU at the invite by establishing a new school record in the 800-meter run thanks to time of 1:55.69.

Ingle finished fourth overall in the event, while freshman Dorian Rumble (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Penn Hills) crossed the finish line with a time of 1:56.61 to take home sixth place.

Ingle broke the old school mark that was held by Casey Rodenbaugh, who posted a time of 1:55.82 at Kent State in 2000.

In the 400-meter dash, senior Charles Gladman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Cardinal Dougherty) continued his strong season by finishing fifth with a time of 49.33. He also finished 16th in the 60-meter dash thanks to a time of 7.17 seconds.

Robert Morris placed two runners in the top six in the 1,000-meter run at the Doug Raymond Invitational, as freshman Nicolas Gentile (Sarver, Pa. / Freeport) posted a time of 2:32.14 to finish third, while freshman Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills) finished sixth (2:36.34). Thompson also finished with a time of 4:42.77 in the mile.

In other distance events, senior Arthur Leathers (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run thanks to a time of 15:51.30.

In the field events, freshman Chris Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) finished seventh triple jump, sophomore Brendan Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) finished seventh in the shot put and sophomore Charles Thurner-Diaz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) finished seventh in the weight throw.

Carper posted a leap of 12.95 meters (42'6"), Morales finished with a throw of 15.10 meters (49'6.50") and Thurner-Diaz recorded a toss of 14.95 meters (49'0.75").

Robert Morris continues its 2010-11 campaign Saturday, Jan. 22, by taking part in the Al Hall Freedom Games, hosted by Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa.
