Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's indoor track & field team continued its 2010-11 campaign Saturday afternoon by taking part in the second annual All Hall Freedom Games, hosted by Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa.
A total of five student-athletes and a relay squad took home individual titles for RMU.
In the 800-meter, freshman Nicolas Gentile (Sarver, Pa. / Freeport) won the event thanks to a time of 1:55.94, while the Colonials dominated the sprints.
Senior T.J. Green (Stamford, Conn. / Milford Academy) won the 60-meter dash thanks to a time of 6.98 seconds, which helped him qualify for the IC4A / ECAC Championships. Freshman Jermaine Dwight (Wyncote, Pa. / Cheltenham Township) finished second in the event thanks to a time of 7.15 seconds.
Green and Dwight played role reversal in the 200-meter dash, with Dwight winning the individual title thanks to a time of 22.27 while Green finished second at 22.32 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, freshman Dorian Rumble (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Penn Hills) claimed first place thanks to a time of 51.53 seconds.
Robert Morris dominated the shot put, earning each of the top four spots while placing six of the top seven marks. Sophomore Collin Ray (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) claimed the title with a toss of 15.18 meters, and he was followed by sophomores Charles Thurner-Diaz (Camp HIll, Pa. / Camp Hill), Steve Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and Brendan Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster).
Thurner-Diaz posted a throw of 15.17 meters, followed by Mitchell (15.05 meters) and Morales (14.99 meters).
Gentile and Rumble, meanwhile, were part of a 4x800-meter relay team that claimed first place at the Al Hall Freedom Games. The squad posted a time of 8:01.20 and also included sophomore Ben Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) and freshman Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills).
Robert Morris continues its 2010-11 campaign Friday, Jan. 28, by taking part in the Youngstown State Scored Meet in Youngstown, Ohio.
