Women's Soccer Announces Schedule For 2012

Moon Township, Pa.-The Robert Morris University women's soccer team announced its 2012 game schedule. The Colonials will play 20 games, eight of which will take place at the familiar confines of the North Athletic Complex.

Robert Morris opens the season with a pair of road games in late August. Eastern Kentucky will be the Colonials first competitor on Aug. 19 followed by a return to the Pittsburgh area to take on the Pitt Panthers in Oakland on Aug. 22.

On Aug. 24, Youngstown State comes to Moon Township for the Colonials home opener at 5:00 p.m. Later on in the week, Robert Morris will travel to Lewisburg, Pa to take on Bucknell (Aug. 26).

The team returns home for two games versus Howard on Aug. 31 at 4:00 p.m. and two days later on Sept. 2 against Duquesne at 1:00 p.m.

A four-game road trip follows as the Colonials make their way to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to compete with Air Force on Sept. 7.  Two days later on Sept. 9, Robert Morris takes on Colorado College. The Colonials make their way back east to finish up their road trip as well as their non-conference schedule on Sept. 14 with Buffalo and Sept. 16 at Niagara.

LIU Brooklyn comes to Moon Township for the Northeast Conference-opener for both teams on Sept. 21 with the game time set for 3:00 p.m.

Yet another road-trip follows, this one heads to the Garden State to face Monmouth (Sept. 28) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Sept. 30), before closing the trip with a contest at Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 5).

Robert Morris returns home for a two-game set with Central Connecticut State  on Oct. 7 at 11:00 a.m. and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m.  

The Colonials will leave yet again for their last road trip with a game against Bryant on Oct. 19 and they will battle Sacred Heart on Oct. 21.

The regular season closes with two home games, first against Quinnipiac on Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. and then to finish up, a 1:00 p.m. match on Oct. 28 when Robert Morris hosts Wagner.

In 2011, the Colonials set team records for wins, 11, succeeding the earlier record of eight. They also became the first team to post a winning record, finishing up 11-8-1. They were 5-5 in the Northeast Conference.
