RMU Looks to Rebound Against Pitt

The Robert Morris University women's soccer team travels to the University of Pittsburgh and brand-new Ambrose Urbanic Field this Wednesday, August 22, at 7:00 p.m. Robert Morris fell 1-0 to Eastern Kentucky Sunday in their first game of the season. Pittsburgh is 1-1 on the season beating Eastern Michigan before losing to Michigan.

Preseason Polls

Robert Morris was picked eighth in the 2012 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Pittsburgh was picked sixth in the 2012 Big East Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Series

RMU is 2-5 against Pitt and lost the last meeting, 4-0, in 2003.

Musket Shots

  • RMU is 0-1 after falling to Eastern Kentucky in the overtime
  • Freshman Chelsea de Jager started in goal against Eastern Kentucky stopping four shots
  • This is the first-ever home game at Ambrose Urbanic Field for Pitt
  • RMU returns 14 letter winners and seven starters from the 2011 team
  • Senior Ayana Davis is second all-time at RMU with 27 career goals (Katie Dugan, 36, 1999-02)
  • Davis 58 career points are also second in school records (Katie Dugan, 85, 1999-02)
  • Sophomore Haley Vincent was an NEC All-Rookie Team selection last season
  • The 2011 team set program records for wins (11), points (102), and assists (32)

Scouting the Panthers

Pittsburgh finished with a record of 2-13-4 in 2011 and is picked to finish sixth in the 2012 Big East Preseason Coaches' Poll.  Senior Ashley Cuba was selected to Big East Third Team in 2011 and is a point shy of the career points lead at Pitt. Cuba also holds the record for goals and has led the team in goals the past three seasons. Goalkeeper Nicole D'Agostino has stopped 11 shots this season.  Pitt has lost to Michigan, 1-0, and collected a victory against Eastern Michigan, 2-1, for a season record of 1-1.
