Two Second Half Goals Give Bucknell Win Over RMU

Lewisburg, Pa. / Emmitt Field — The Robert Morris University women's soccer team is still seeking its first victory of 2012 following a 3-1 loss at Bucknell University Sunday afternoon. The Colonials, now 0-4, return to the pitch Friday, Aug. 31, when they host Howard in the first night game in team history. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Joe Walton Stadium.

Bucknell got on the board first Sunday when Chelsey Garkowski finished off a breakaway that was started by Taryn Boucher with a through ball in the 26th minute.

Robert Morris tied the game in the 34th minute when sophomore Cassie Raymond (South Park, Pa. / South Park) buried a shot from the edge of the penalty box. Senior Ayana Davis (Mt. Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) set up the goal by delivering a diagonal pass to the left wing where Raymond took advantage.

The score remained tied into the halftime break as each team managed nine shots.

The Bison seized momentum in the second half, taking the lead when Cassie Denger one-touched a Kayla Yee through-ball past Chelsea de Jager (Grimsby, Ontario / Governor Simcoe) in the 52nd minute. Danielle Piccirilli put the game away in the 76th minute.  She and Denger played a one-two game down the field before Piccirilli finished off the play from 10 yards out.

De Jager finished with a season-high 10 saves. Sandita McDermott stooped five shots for the host.
